finally at least a little back in the rhythm of what constitutes a normal day for me today. walking around town, filling out paperwork, paying bills, listening to music. keeping up on my crazy RSS feed when necessary. which is how i remembered that i used to read stuff. and keep up with news. and learn things. and do other stuff that distracts that part of me which is eerily similar to john cusack in the first 20 minutes of every film he's in (approximately 80 percent of me).
so that's how i found these videos.
i know everyone likes the fleet foxes right now. because they're great. and you know how i feel about liking things that other people like. i don't like it. but i like them. i can't help myself. and they're forcing me to re-envision my "i don't want to spend the cash to see wilco and the fleet foxes in spokane" idea. but more on that in the next post.
here's a decent video of them doing music stuff:
and here's a link to stereogum (shameless, i know) of a good video of their song "english house".
and here's the official video to their song "white winter hymnal" (again, not to sure on the video here, but you can hear the harmonies and whatnot a lot more clearly than you can on the above videos, so give it a listen at least, even if cyber-claymation scares you):
and of course following that is the obligatory ryan video. mostly because i've been listening to "beautiful sorta" a lot, and remembering why i loved it so much like 3 years ago when it first came out. it's a great sort of post-drinking sad-bastard song, but not in the "shoot yourself depressing" category, more in the "do shots until you fall down in someone's backyard garden" territory.
we've all done that a few times, yes?
whoops...embedding disabled. clickety click.
