so...anybody who's been reading this blog for awhile (i.e. zero people) know my absolute, almost catholic obsession with the max payne series of video games. i won't go into it again here, but suffice to say that when they announced that they were making a movie based on what i consider the two most engrossing, cinematic, and atmospheric action video games ever made that i was a little depressed. you know, because video game adaptations always, always, ALWAYS suck huge dick.
and i didn't want to see what's essentially one of the best games of all time destroyed on-screen.
then they cast mark wahlberg as max payne, and i wanted to be completely dead and have died in the past so i didn't have to die with the knowledge that i now had.
but.
now the final, full trailer for the movie has come out. and it's not bad. in fact, it looks like (at least if you already are into the games) that it might be good. despite the fact that jackie from that 70s show (even though i love that 70s show) is playing mona sax. despite the shitty nu-metal music that plays throughout the trailer. the movie itself seem to follow the spirit and tenor of the game(s). i'm actually sort of excited. max payne, don't crush my soul, please. or i'll be out twenty dollars. ten for the movie ticket and ten for the entire stuffed crust pizza i'll have to eat afterwards to console myself.
