it's fall again. and you know what that means. cardinals time. i know i'm obsessed with this band all year long and never stop talking about them, but fall seems to be the time when, perennially, there's a great convergence in the cardinals galaxy: new albums, new, big tours, lots of blog posts and all sorts of exciting stuff flying around the internets. it's also the time that i'm just less inclined to listening to new music than, say, late winter or spring or summer. in the fall i'm a lot more inclined to sit around and download live shows from three or four artists i really already enjoy and appreciating the minutiae of each performance; going deeper instead of broader, i guess.
anyway, today was the day. i had avoided, other than hanging my cardinals tour posters in my apartment, any obvious shows of fanboyism lately. then i wore my rose tour shirt to work (without realizing it) and just spent three hours playing cardinals compilations from RAA.com (again, without realizing it). then, after hearing great versions of "cherry lane", "mockingbirdsong" and "how do you keep love alive?" all in a row, it hit me...that this will probably be the only band i listen to for like a month. because i'm insane. and because they're awesome.
