okay, that was incredibly classless. but i stand by it, because whatever impression i might give off professionally, as everyone i've ever lived with knows, i am in fact incredibly classless. and you can only be what you are. in my unfortunate case, that thing is an asshole.
so...good article on the AV club today responding to orson scott card being a completely fucking ass-face (i'm going to write my dissertation on the mental process by which i decide to hyphenate or not when i make up a new word), and going on from there to confront the age-old question of "who fucking cares if gay people want to get married?" i mean, seriously.
if that doesn't appeal to you, there are also a lot of mentions of lesbians touching each other and boobs. that's actually what drew me in originally and then it got all smart and literary from there.
hit that shit.
note: i have also sniffled emotionally whilst reading card's books in the past (his almost destructively beautiful "enchantment" comes to mind), though i did in fact laugh, even as a child, when ender murdered that other kid by kicking him in the balls. it's amazing how intelligent some people can be in some ways and then how absolutely idiotic they can be in other ways. penis.
omg! ender killed someone! how sad. (i read ender's game yrs ago and all i remember is the lame paper i had to write about how life is a game. lame.)
ReplyDeletehe killed a fucking fuckload of people. you must not have finished the book ;)
ReplyDeleteha, maybe not. i think i've been practicing the skimming process since middle school :)
