legal stuff

just to make sure i'm not stepping on anybody's toes what with the posting of mixtapes and such:

i post said mixtapes under the assumption that i'm merely doing what fans of music have been doing since the cassette-tape age (which i'm old enough to remember). namely, i'm taking a bunch of songs i like, slapping them together, and passing them on to friends so they can enjoy them too. this is complicated a bit by the fact that in this case, my "friends" are anybody who likes music and is reading this blog on the internet.

i don't have a large readership, and at this point, the few people who do read this blog are friends who i communicate directly with on a regular basis; if i was getting 10,000 hits a day i feel like things might be different.

however, they aren't, and i feel the original spirit of the idea of making a semi-personal mixtape remains intact. in some cases, i'll also be reviewing an album and occasionally attaching one mp3 from that album to give people a sample of what i'm talking about. this i see as promoting the music and purchase of said music and the assorted trappings of that whole business.

if i am wrong about either of these things, and you perceive either as being an infringement in any way, don't hesitate to contact me at locke456@gmail.com and i'll take the offending content down immediately. i will never upload entire albums or significant bodies of work by one band or artist, and all links are purposely made to expire after a few days rather than to be permanent sources from which to acquire said music, also in the interest of preserving the "mixtape mentality".
