yet again, it's early january. and, yet again, i find myself sitting in the airport, waiting for a plane to take me back to pullman. funny how that happens.
most of the time, i'm pretty fascinated by airports. in fact, i've often considered writing a seminar paper specifically about the liminality of airport terminals; they're fascinatingly fucked-up places, trademarks of a civilization that has mastered the art of travelling thousands of miles in a handful of hours without taking into consideration the possible metaphysical pitfalls of such travel ("metaphysical" might not be the word i want here, it's really early...)
right now though, i'm just looking forward to getting this over with. leaving here at 730am and after an hour-long flight, a 5 hour flight past spokane to seattle, and then another hour-long flight back to spokane, followed of course by the 90 minute drive down 195...to somehow get me home by about 3pm (yay time zones!)...i'm pretty sure i'm just going to go right to bed, middle of the afternoon be damned. according to my google to-do list, i've got to clean my apartment and buy grociers and do laundry and all that fun stuff...but since there's a 24-hour grocery a quarter-mile away, i can do all that stuff just as easily after sleeping for 12 hours as i can if i try to plow through it right away.
i'm hoping i can sleep through at least a bit of the 5-hour flight...those aren't fun in small(ish) planes when you have absurdly long legs and tend to get really hungry really easily...
