adjectives are subjective

i have to stop taking professors at their word. this morning, i realized 2 hours before class that the "brief" (as described in an email) introduction i had to read was actually 57 pages long. just now, i printed out the readings for tomorrow afternoon's class, described as "quick"...98 pages.

i mean, true, in the context of english lit grad school, those adjectives are probably accurate. i probably just have to get into the swing of things again...but when i allocate an hour for reading on the basis of an adjective and then realize it's actually going to take 3-4 times that long...
