i am in love with carlita's. i mean, how could i not be? it's on campus, open immediately following my class, is reasonably priced (esp. compared to zoe's), has diet coke (unlike zoe's), is in a huge open room with decent internet access (unlike zoe's), and although the decor leaves much to be desired, all their food is apparently made from sustainably farmed, local ingredients and tastes like ACTUAL FOOD (if you haven't ever eaten actual food in your life you might not know what i mean here). it's awesome, and i think it will be my new hangout spot.
it also helps that nobody else comes here, so i can get work done quickly and easily.
i just stared teaching my summer class a few days ago. i'm still dead-beated from pretty much cranking out 70 pages of new writing in about six days while grading portfolios last week, but it's amazing what a bunch of well-placed caffeine can accomplish for you.
i'm getting obsessed with twitter.
i'm writing new words and lines and occasionally picking patterns, finally.
it's really cold for summer.
i'm hoping to play some shows this summer, maybe with andrea, maybe with shipping and handling. maybe with the blazers. who knows.
i love wilco, apparently their new album is great, and i'm going to listen to the stream at some point tonight.
the ending of this season of house was amazing. fucking creepy. and good. i'm going to watch rome soon.
the cavs are going to win the NBA championship. and i will be the happiest motherfucker on the goddamn earth when they do. i mean, it's been 23 years since they were even close.
summer is reminding me that i love my job. i mean, ideally today i would have written songs or fucked around online or cleaned my apartment or done a lot of other such things; unfortunately, since it is a necessity that i make money to support and feed myself, and i cannot make money doing those other things, i have to work. and i have to say, getting done teaching my one class for the day and just having the rest of the afternoon to hang out and eat tacos while grading and typing up handouts is somehow sublimely satisfying. if we weren't consistently the most overworked department in the college, i would probably always love doing this.
funny.
You must teach me the intricacies of "well-placed caffeine" as this is a skill I have yet to learn
