i'm still alive. i have one more paper to write, a box of portfolios to grade, and then starting next week, a summer session writing class to teach. i'm driving home in late june, but before then i have to do the whole class-teaching thing in addition to these awesome tidbits (according to my google docs to-do list):
- call about car estimates and get timing belt replaced
- get a bike for local commutes
- find out what books to get for seminars next year, and read and annotate them
- clean apartment thoroughly
- sort out etree list/recordings/hard drives (essentially alphabetize nearly 500 concert recordings)
- write new website
- organize articles into something (essentially order at least 300 articles into a file cabinet, and reorganize my entire office)
i had hoped to catch up on some movies and dip into a new TV show or two this summer, as well as try a few of these newfangled 2004 PC games i've been hearing about. but alas; it seems like it is not to be. not to mention the fact that my plans to, you know, actually read for fun, or go hiking, or record an album are pretty much fantasies at the moment. though i have jammed a few times on the porch lately, and my voice is coming back. i have bits and pieces of a few new songs that i'm not ashamed of.
i just threw a copy of uncle tupelo's "no depression" out my fourth floor office window because my computer refused to read it. i hope it didn't slice anyone in half on the way down.
oh well, back to writing...
