no, not sandwiches.
yesterday at about 3pm i sat down and started doing some research on urban exploration for a 3-page paper. a few hours later, after finding a shit-ton of online documentaries, articles, forums, photos, and ISBNs (that i eventually translated into real books via the library), i found myself fully re-enmeshed in dissertation research ideas. by 3am, i found myself with an 11 page paper (out of nowhere) and a new theory on how to tie urban exploration into situationist theory...
this stuff is really interesting, even though there hasn't been any direct theory/scholarship written about it yet...which, in a way, is actually good i guess because that means i can write it.
along those same lines, i'll be presenting a paper related to my UE theory in SF at PAMLA in november...so that's one small, but exciting, step towards scholarly legitimation...
