i am currently not wearing underwear.

this might be another one of those make-it-or-break-it posts. you know, the ones that i post totally realizing that it will probably either a) alienate the fuck out of some readers, b) make me look like a complete maniac to some readers, or c) accomplish both. i suppose it depends on how squeamish you are about underclothes.

i came up to kent for two days yesterday morning, thanks to andrea, who risked being late to her job by getting completely-ass lost in canton while trying to pick me up and give me a ride. i like to think that because i gave her a piggyback ride for like 100 feet last night that makes us even, but it probably doesn't.

anyway, i spent most of the day at scribbles coffee co., which as i may or may not have mentioned, is this new kick-ass coffee shop right on the north edge of downtown (which means nobody knows it's down there except for the sort of people you'd want to run into in a coffee shop in the first place). i got to do a number of pretty excellent things during my five or so hour tenure there, like drink peppermint hot chocolate, watch an adorable four year old girl fucking jam out on a tiny pink guitar, sit in an number of insanely awesome chairs, listen to the recording i made of my brother's senior recital, read a book that i just bought for a friend of mine before giving it to them, and...oh yeah, catch up with my best friends, who i haven't seen in six months.

from there, we had to drop andrea's car off at her house, because she had "let" me "borrow" it for "the afternoon". this was made slightly complicated because i had to navigate to the house mostly based on 5 year-old memories. but it worked, eventually. the next hour was spent on me buying a box of cinnamon squares, a pair of 99 cent thick-black-frame sunglasses, and rainbow striped flip flops to eat and wear the rest of the day. after that, we had to drive to stow to get john's scrabble board, which meant i got to visit his awesome cat and see his mom, which is always a pleasure (and i mean that completely unironically).

after that, there was some afternoon bar-drinking, some scrabble-playing, and then, if i don't have the sequence of events messed up in my brain, we went to taco tontos (of a-few-posts-down-story fame) and i blew an unacceptable amount of cash on an unacceptable amount of food for myself.

we met up there with andrea later and then somehow ended up formulating a half-assed plan (which actually worked to perfection) to sneak into towner's woods after dark by parking in brady lake and sneaking through some people's backyards, across some train tracks (you know how i feel about this part) and then actually right onto the path that follows the south edge of the woods. being in towner's woods in the middle of the night is a little creepy, and more than a little hard-to-see-where-you're-walking, but we made our way to lake pippen and jumped in the lake (to be honest, i was only in the water for like 10 minutes and maybe actually under the water for like 10 seconds because it was ridiculously cold). since we obviously hadn't come with towels, swimsuits, etc. this entailed using my boxers as a swimsuit. and they still aren't dry. this is somwhat vexing. however, pretty much the entirety of yesterday was so awesome that i think i can get over it. i just wish i had had the foresight to wear something other than boxers with santa claus on them.

see? that wasn't so bad. you probably thought this was going to be some story about some crazy, creepy, multi-partner sexual escapade or something like that. if you're still with me, i applaud you.

oh, also i ate an omelette at an all-night diner last night. i used to love omelettes, but i stopped eating them in the last few years because they always made me sick. this one (obviously) hasn't done so, though. that's encouraging.
