rounding up livebloggers at the moment...

words cannot express how excited i am about the phish show tonight. yet words are all i have. i can't imagine what it must be like to actually be there...though i suppose the majority of people there are probably tripped-out, substance-abusing "brahs" that won't sober up long enough to realize how lucky they are. first phish show in 4.5 years, first sober-trey phish show...and a free download in the morning.

i should be less excited than i am, but i'm not.

great article about jeff tweedy and migraines

clickety-clack.

doing a bit better, thanks

trying to hold my shit together, but doing a better job of it at least. when i think about san fran coming up next week, it often gets a little hard to breathe, but otherwise things are good(er). i would like to only take 2 classes next semester if necessary. it's nice to think, even while in the midst of it, that this might be the most stressful semester of my ph.d program. from here, it is potentially all downhill.

just down a really steep hill covered in sharp rocks and ice and that stick-figure wolf from skifree that fucking eats the shit out of your shit when you ski by because he can sense your heartbeat from anywhere in the world in the depths of his soul.

i'm hungry.

no, it is not a violent uprising of the oppressed...it is just music (of the revolution thundering in your ears)

listening to junta today in preparation for the first phish show in five years. wow. i need to find a place that will give live setlist updates. if they open with "the curtain with...", i shall shit myself.

my head is literally spinning...

well, i mean, literally-figuratively. it's not spinning like that crazy poltergeist girl's head, but it's spinning inside. such that reading makes me feel like badness. which sucks, since that's sort of my job.

too much crazy stuff going on the last few days. i've got a big presentation coming up on wednesday, and then a pretty solid wall-to-wall, hour-to-hour packed schedule for the next week after that...and then when i "finish" on thursday morning, i'm driving to san francisco to present at C's.

even though i'm going to be working for all of spring break, i still can't wait for it. that doesn't make any sense, but i find myself caring only a little.

i convened with our impromptu MLA panel on friday, but we decided to direct our efforts elsewhere when it became clear that we were a bit late on submitting panel proposals. also, when it became clear that the '09 conference was on december 27th in philadelphia, aka the armpit of the colonies. next year's is in january instead (thus giving me a chance to sleep off xmas before having to travel cross-country and be smart), and it's in LA. i don't like LA all that much, but it's closer and potentially more interesting than philly. so. MLA proposal next year. let's hope that MLA gets less pretentious and their application process and the related vernacular get less byzantine. i could also hope that i sprout wings and learn to throw lightning bolts, but whatever.

so we're applying to digra instead. it's a conference about video games...and it's in london. if we do in fact get accepted, i will essentially get to fly to london for a weekend for free and talk to people about video games. i love my job.

but right now i'm going to go home, keep my head completely still, and try not to vomit.
