i'm like your mom's doorbell, everyone gets a turn

something went horribly wrong in that post title.

anyway, as a way to keep a tenuous hold on the sanity i described so incoherently in the previous post, i'm going to try to force myself to write at least one blog a day from now on.  sometimes they might be about things that happened during that specific day, but i'm hoping to actually write some Writey McWriterson things as well.  we'll see.  if i can set aside an hour every two days to exercise my body, i should be able to set aside the same amount of time to exercise my brains (and my fingers, and my brain's fingers), right?

WRONG.

oh god, my toaster's on fire quick someone throw water on it

crash

  1. dude. that title is awesome. i laughed. then smiled. then laughed again.

i too have been failing at writing. hardcore. remember the days when you and i used to write like motherfuckers constantly--like multiple posts a day? we were both probably a bit better off (mentally anyway) then. at least i was. now i keep too much locked up.

so, friend. you start writing. and i'll start reading/commenting again. let's rejoin this thing called the blogosphere, shall we?

  2. yeah, those were the days, in a way. oddly enough, i'm much happier now (as in, my life is way better), and yet i feel out of sorts really often. i thought at first that i was just so unused to being genuinely happy that i couldn't come to terms with it (emo, huh?) but that's not it. after reading your comment, i wonder if it's just simply that i no longer talk about "difficult things" because i don't have the impetus of being miserable to force me to talk about them. it's not like i no longer have deeper concerns or issues just because i'm happier...i just never talk about them anymore. maybe blogging will make me feel less like a happy robot.

  3. i've been thinking of how to respond for a few minutes. as a warning--this isn't going to be remotely articulate...

i think that the process itself is what is rewarding/beneficial--not so much the subject matter. you may have been expressing your "misery" in the past and that's what propelled you to write, but that doesn't have to be the case now.

though i do a great deal of "pity poor me" and bitching, i try to write when i'm happy too...and whenever i have an epiphany. so theoretically, your happy robot self could benefit immensely from more writing because you would be doing it as a way to...not feel...the opposite of out of sorts (in sorts? no, that's just silly...). it could be all sunshine and puppies with an occasional cloud. and because i know you can write about these things, it seems like you just need to find another impetus for writing. if that's what you want.

**or i'm completely off base with everything (which is highly possible at 4:50 on a Thursday--after having just listened/slept thru a dreadful webinar on dealing w/ difficult students...)
